An incendiary new novel is set in the ore-heavy guts of Western Australia - a tale of secrets and lies in mining country. Join Canberra’s own Aussie noir superstar, Peter Papathanasiou, and mining expert, Rod Campbell, for a dig in the red dirt.

Peter Papathanasiou will be launching his new novel, The Pit, from this special event.

Artist

PETER PAPATHANASIOU is an author of four books and has published many articles in mainstream media and literary journals. His first book in 2019 was a memoir about his international adoption; since then, he has authored a series of crime novels that have been published and translated internationally. Peter is currently working on his next novel and also screenwriting with filmmakers as his books are adapted to the screen.

ROD CAMPBELL is the research director at the Australia Institute. An economist by background, Rod’s work focuses on the economics of mining and energy. He has appeared as an expert witness in major mining court cases and has published numerous landmark reports and peer-reviewed articles. Rod and his research have appeared in media as diverse as the ABC, Guardian, News Limited papers, the Allan Jones Show, Sky after Dark, and Chinese Government television.
