Deputy Chair

Jane O’Dwyer is obsessed with books, Canberra and universities. The Vice-President (Engagement and Global Relations) of The Australian National University, Jane works at the intersection between the university and the wider world, with a mission to link ANU global, national and local communities, and in doing so, advance each of them.

Jane has more than 25 years of Australian and international experience stretching across politics, media, peak bodies and higher education. Jane is an alumna of ANU, the University of Wollongong and Curtin University as well as a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has lived in Tokyo, Washington DC and Rome and has a favorite library and bookstore in each.

Originally from Perth, Jane fell in love with Canberra at first sight more than 20 years ago because it is full of smart, interested and interesting people. She is surrounded by piles of books at work and home, reflecting a weakness for spy novels and eclectic interests in Australian, Japanese, American and Classical politics and history, architecture and design, and, universities and the world of ideas.
