Deputy Chair

Gregory is a First Australian from D’harawal country and has the Lyrebird as his Dreaming. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor with the University of Canberra's Institute for Applied Ecology and Director of Lyrebird Dreaming Pty Ltd. Gregory represented Australia as an Ambassador and High Commissioner in West Africa, and in the United Nations. He was Australia’s first-appointed Threatened Species Commissioner and led development and implementation of Australia’s first Threatened Species Strategy. Gregory has lived and worked in remote Indigenous Australia, West and East Africa, China and Japan. He has an Honours Degree in Economics and a Masters in Foreign Affairs and Trade. He speaks French and Mandarin.

Gregory is passionate about human rights, climate change, caring for country and being a good dad.
